Title track "Deer of Wisdom" out now!
The Dog’s Body is a four-piece “Y’allternative Rock” band hailing from the small college town of Cookeville, Tennessee. The unassuming Upper Cumberland city serves as an ideal incubator for experimental and outsider acts skirting the shadow of music city. The band blends a unique mix of Southern, Alternative, and Indie Rock to craft a unique sound that echoes the duality of the modern South.
The Dog’s Body is very much a Southern band and they are unabashed in their depiction of the complexities and hardship of life in rural Tennessee. On their new record Deer of Wisdom the band examines loss, regret, and the malaise of a generation searching for meaning in modern cultural shifts. The Dog’s Body hits all the gears on their latest outing, showcasing smart song craft and an eye for lyrical detail.
With the album engineered and mixed by Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Margo Price) and mastered by Carl Saff (Sonic Youth, Mitski, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy), the band opted to ground their sound in analog two-inch tape magnetic tape. Deer of Wisdom will be pressed to vinyl by Microforum Vinyl Record Pressing to complete the full circle, analog experience.
The latest release on Knoxville, Tennessee’s own eclectic stalwart, Gezellig Records, captures the band’s frenetic live energy across eight deliberate tracks. Raw, uncompromising , and immediate, Deer of Wisdom launches its songs at full force through the receiver. Deer of Wisdom will be available on vinyl and all streaming platforms this 4th of July.
The first 30 orders come with a limited edition cassette featuring a live set "Live For No One"!!
