The fourth album by Angad Berar and his second “full band” release, Sundae was co-produced with Kartik Pillai of Karuta Records, Faridabad. Pillai, known for his work with Jamblu, Begum, and Peter Cat Recording Co., brings his signature touch to this record.
Notably, the album features Angad Berar’s first-ever vocal performance on the track ‘Driving With You.’
Written over a couple of years across Goa, Delhi, and Berlin, the album came together during an intensive 5-day recording session at Kartik’s studio in Faridabad.
Sonically, it’s a locomotive ride—kraut-inspired Hindustani psych rock that hums with momentum and mood. There’s a bright, positive energy throughout, making Sundae a natural companion for long drives, cycling quests, or any moment that calls for steady forward motion. And true to its name, the album feels like an ice cream on a hot sunny day.
This album also marks a creative turning point for Berar. After his debut Elephants on the Beach, he stepped away from composing with drums and percussion, feeling he hadn’t yet fully grasped the sound and depth of rhythm. Five years on, Sundae reflects his renewed engagement with full-band composition and a deeper understanding of groove and texture—making it both a return and an evolution. It was also his first time co-producing, which he describes as *“like co-flying heavy machinery at this altitude”—*a fresh challenge that brought new energy and perspective to the project.
Sundae will be released on 6 June 2025. The album will be available on vinyl via Echodelick Records, with Stickman Records handling distribution in Europe. Gezellig Records will simultaneously release the album on cassette tape.
